The typical Christmas thing to do around Christmas in this part of Europe is to visit the typical Christmas markets in the city centre; very traditional one in Vienna already started last week and there is one also in Prague.
You can byu Christmas stuf there, eat local food and drink Punch, Gluhwein (Hot wine / Cooked wine) or just tea with rum.

The Vienna Xmas market is grand but you'll find smaller markets scattered throughout the center. However if you're in vienna I recommend you take the train/bus to Bratislava in slovakia and check out the Xmas market in the old town square. Cheaper than Vienna and a great day trip. almost 8 years ago
