The most popular region of Cyprus seems to be Paphos, which has an archeological park (Tomb of the Kings), a water park (Aphrodite) and Coral Beach.

For the "Greek" side, then Paphos seems to be the place. Limassol was nice but is now so built up.

For the "Turkish" side, I like Kyrenia/Girne but the best beaches are up in the panhandle area. over 9 years ago

Depends if you want quiet or touristy and luxurious. Near Paphos there are quieter beaches and villages where you can stay. Check z&x villas. Pomos is beautiful and natural but not much going on. Pathos is more touristy but great hotels and sites. On the eastern side of the island is Protaras and Ayia napa. There, there are not so many important sites but the best beaches are there and is a great time to go as not too packed like august. Many hotels, restaurants clubs etc. You can go as tacky or quiet as you like depending where you choose. Protaras is quieter.
Limassol is a big city but very nice with great restaurants, hotels and historical sites. The sea is not nice though. Visit for a day to see it and also visit curium ancient amphitheater between limassol and Paphos. The mountain villages like pedoulas, kakopetria etc are also worth a visit for a day. So... Depends if you want quiet and natural (pomos), loud and tacky (Ayia napa), best beach (Protaras) or a bit of everything (paphos). :) over 9 years ago
