Going to the Cook Islands in June this year - just wondering about some good places to eat - can be any price range as long as it is good food - does not have to be 5 star

The Tamarind House is a great fine dining restaurant. also try Vaima on the southwest side of the island. Lastly make sure to get fish and chips at the Flying Boat at the game fishing club. over 9 years ago

    • I live here and I totally agree. Would add to try Cafe salsa in town, Trader Jacks (a pub on the water in town), Bamboo Jacks (Asian...in town too) and dont miss Jill's food at The Mooring around at Avana harbour (just before you get to Muri heading clockwise) jo.cfrpg@gmail.com over 8 years ago

I have tried almost every restaurant on the island as I lived there for a year. I have not found one that I did not like. Remember, almost all the food has to be shipped in so there is not a tremendous variety. Enjoy. Cook Islands is my favorite place anywhere. about 9 years ago

I had some great food at the Anchorage (it was a Sunday night BBQ and had a local band playing). Cafe Ariki in the back streets of Avarua - less tourists and more local families turning up for a meal. Also, on Wed nights there's a *tiny* night market in Arorangi. Not a huge variety, but I had a very memorable chicken coconut curry there for $10. Nice to have a change from the $20-$25 prices at the resorts. over 8 years ago
