Gifts for Chinese Children

about 7 years ago about China

We are traveling to various cities in China on a tour in Oct. We wish to bring some small gift items from the U.S. for children we come in contact with. What suggestions? I am leaning towards baseball/football cards.

What kinds of kids are you going to visit? If to very poor places, some pencils and chocolates would be great. Baseball and American football are not so popular in china. There is no US TV channel in China apart from some five star hotels. But cards can be a surprise as they might not be aware of at all, as an icon of US culture. about 7 years ago

Baseball or football cards wouldn't mean much to these kids. Now, NBA cards? Those will work. The Chinese kids know and love the NBA. Otherwise, Chinese kids pretty much like to play with the same stuff American kids do. They're really big on stuff like Transformers. Just don't bring anything over that has a big "Made in China" label. about 7 years ago
