I'm planning a province hopping in china for 1 week using the train as a mode of transportation (or any cheap transportation) and at the same time visiting the "must see places" in each respective province. Is it advisable in terms of budget, safety and adventure are concerned? If so, what are the top 5 provinces that I shall include in my trip?

Going by train you will spend too much time because distances are really long. If you have only one week, you won't have time to visit the main places in China. about 7 years ago

A high speed train offers stops between shanghai and beijing. Otherwise Try to visit Xinjiang, Yunnan or Beijing by plane. about 7 years ago

China is too big to see in 1 week You can spend 1 week in one areas and not see everything! There are so many interesting "must see" places. Need to work out what you want to see - scenery, traditional places, monuments etc. Concentrate on things that interest you otherwise, you will miss out on many things. Wherever you go be careful of your belongings and people that approach you. Most Chinese don't speak English... about 7 years ago
