Hi there,

I am a New Zealander and I will be flying from Istanbul - Auckland leaving Turkey next week 9th Dec. I have booked a flight with China Southern with 2 stopovers (Urumqi and Guangzhou) and have just realised that I may require a visa for these stopovers.
I enter China at 17:10 on the 9th Dec and leave 12:30 on the 10th Dec so am well within the 24 hour limit but cannot seem to find if I will need a visa as I am entering China through Urumqi which isn't listed as a city eligible for the 24 hour transit without visa.

Is anyone able to provide any information on this?
Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Amelia,

From looking at the Chinese embassy's (Australian) site, a direct transfer under 24 hours does not require a visa, provided you don't leave the airport and have a connecting flight out of the country. This page has more information; http://au.china-embassy.org/eng/ls/vfc/t1038742.htm

Hope that helps! about 2 years ago
