Din Tai Fung are also in Shanghai & Beijing, but it's pricey and you'll find just as good Xiao Long Bao in many street corner restaurants, who may have been cooking nothing else for years.
In Shanghai, head to the old city and look for pork+crab soupy dumplings, which is the speciality of the Shanghai region. One shop - I can't spell the name - in the central square of the Old Citywill have a huge queue. It's worth the wait. Head up to the 2nd or 3rd floor, sit at the communal tables and watch how others eat the buns to avoid the scalding soup. about 10 years ago -

one of the best for me is, located on Fahuazhen lu, between Panyu li-Dingxi lu. It is behind of Crowne plaza shanghai, 5 minutes walk from there.
i had lived nearby for half year, eaten there once a week.
it's so local one, they don't understand english, but it's easy to order.
they only have 3 kinds of food.
if you stay in xuhui district or zhangnng district, it's worth to go. over 9 years agoAnswered by mahachai viaWorldNomads.com

Definitely Shi Wei Guan (十味观). They have a bunch of restaurants offering the best quality and best value-for-money Xiao Long Bao in town. Dining experience at Yu Garden is not so pleasant. Ding Tai Feng is way too pricey. Just FYI, I was born and brought up in Shanghai. over 9 years ago
