    Sure you can ... But it is generally a good idea to keep a low profile when travelling and not draw undue attention to yourselves. For this reason I'd always recommend dressing 'conservatively' in almost any country. Avoiding problems in the first place is usually better than trying to solve them afterwards.

    Of course. Shorts, tank tops, tube tops and etc are all okay. If too sexy, people will stare only but you will definitely not get in trouble with the law. If you're a woman, alone at the wrong place at the wrong time, then it could be inviting problems not just in China but anywhere else in the world. over 6 years ago

    It might depend on what area of the country you are planning to be in. Beijingers (male) wear shorts all the time in the summer with white tank tops rolled up to bare their bellies. Women are fine in sleeveless shirts and crops. I've never noticed too many Beijing women wearing shorts, but I often wear them and never attract any attention unless I am out running alone at night. over 6 years ago
