It will be difficult to find a restaurant with a special menu just for that, at least not that many around. Need to search ahead of time or just order around it. Definitely not a common request in the local dining scene. about 6 years ago

Make sure you get someone to write out your wife's condition in characters. Still - this is a little-understood issue (I travelled with a guy who suffered the same) and you are best to use common-sense when deciding what to eat. Gluten could be used in thickenings for sauces etc. about 6 years ago

Luckily more expats are moving here everyday. Shopping in import supermarkets will be easy. Your wife should research foods that she are safe to eat before she leaves. Definitely have someone write in characters what she can't have so you can show the waitress. Stick to big hotels and restaurant chains. That should help. If she sticks to stir fried vegetables and meat she should be okay. Remember to have fun shanghai is a great city. about 6 years ago
