I will have an 8 hour stopover in Santiago and was wondering if there is anything close to the airport worth seeing or any if there are any quick tours of the area? Not particularly keen on spending the entire time in the departures lounge...

In one hour you can go to the center of the City (Santiago centro). There you can visit museums, the cathedral, la moneda (like the white house), and many other interesting place. Near the center you can Finder the central market (tipical chilena seafood) and in front the mapocho station, the last two buldings are made by Eiffel. over 9 years ago

Old question, I know. Anyways! Uh...No one said if it was an international or domestic departure? I wouldn't be running all over the place especially a la nieve if you only have 8 hours because during rush hour it could take you longer than an hour to get from downtown to the airport. Pick one destination and take a taxi there and back. You'll pay more, but save time. about 9 years ago
