Traveling through Central and South America do the internet cafes typically have computers available or do they just provide connections?
I am planning to travel by bus from San Antonio to Quito. I have no cell or laptop and was planning on using internet cafes to communicate. A friend that travels in Europe often, said that since so many people have mobile devices, that many cafes only provide connections. In other words Do I have to purchase a cell phone in order to communicate? I would prefer not to carry anything of value to anyone.
Internet cafes have computers as well. Cafes have only wifi.
What you could do is buy a 100 USD mini PC. It's very usefull to have it for checking out information or book rooms etc. This kind of hardware is popular down there as well, even more than in EU or US, so nobody will really stare at you as if you had a 2500 USD MacBook. almost 5 years ago
