My in-laws are planning to take their extended family (16 of us in total) to the Caribbean. They mentioned Turks and Caicos, St. Lucia or St. Kitts as possible destinations they're interested in. I was wondering what the best island to travel to is. We have 8 older adults, 3 young adults, 2 teens and 3 kids in total. Possibly interested in golf, snorkeling and other excursions.

Well, the Turks and Caicos has without question the most beautiful white beaches and surreal blue water. I spent several holidays there with my young children and teens and for beach, snorkel, and sand it is remarkable. That said, Turks and Caicos is a coral island, and so it is not a lush tropical paradise save for the greenery at the resorts. It has been a few years since I was there and i know there has been alot of development, but other then beach shops and a conch farm there was not much to do other than resort life and beach. I cannot speak to golf. I did also spend two vacations on Sr. Lucia and it is the tropical paradise in terms of greenery and trees that you might expect, BUT it does not have truly white sand and the surreal blue water of Turks. Anyse Chastane (probably not spelling it correctly) was the resort we stayed at both times and we really enjoyed it. We took the helicopter ride to and fro. Private beach and you can snorkel from the beach. Friendly folks too. You can do jungle biking, snorkel, dive etc. St Kitts looks much like St Lucia - same tropical trees and mountains - nut not white sand nor crystal clear water. But, you have selected the best in the Caribbean from which to choose. over 3 years ago
