I know poutine is a standard.

What else shouldn't I miss?

I read that smoked meats are a speciality, what and where in particular should I get?

Smoked meat is a type of brisket beef, usually served as a sandwich. There are many good place to get a good one in mtl. I prefer reubens or dunn's to the favorite Schwartz's.

Also you need to pick up fresh bagels from fairmont bagel.

And no trip is complete without rotisserie chicken from chalet BBQ.

Hands down, one dish not to be missed in Montreal is Poutine. A glorious combination of french fries, gravy and cheese. It's practically our national dish... over 8 years ago
