Many things to keep you busy with, depending on how much time you want to take to see things and how mobile you are. A car can get you to nice places out of the city, but isn't necessary

    - if you have a car, taking the ferry to Victoria is nice....you can do it without a car but need to spend more time in transit getting to the ferry. The downtown core of Victoria has a culture all on its own
    - in North Vancouver, there are two suspension bridges. Capilano is costly and I think not worth it, but Lynn Valley is free and about the same quality as Capilano
    - also in North Van is Grouse mountain. If you're up for a challenge you can hike up, called the Grouse grind. Can take 45-90 minutes depending on your pace. At the top is a nice view and a park area you can spend some time in, then take the gondola down. You can also take the gondola up. I recommend going up just before sunset and coming down after sunset, then you see a great view of the city in the day and night
    - Stanley Park is a good place to hang out for a day...pack a lunch and have a picnic if you want to save money. You can rent bikes or roller blades to go around the perimeter road, which is 13km or walk it....there's also the aquarium. On weekends you might see a cricket match going on and more
    - Granville island is a neat place to hang out
    - lots of other things too...just depends on what you're interested in over 8 years ago
