I want to cross over to Vietnam from Kampong Cham, Cambodia. What's the closest border crossing and the best way to get there? Also, it is easy to get to Dalat from the border? Or do I have to go to Saigon?

You will need to go all the way to Bavet to cross the border into Moc Bai. It will be out of your way way, but as a foreigner you cannot cross the closer border. You can probably get a bus from Kampong Cham, but worst case scenario you will have to go back to Phnom Penh.

To get to Dalat you are going to need to go to HCMC. Your only option from the border will be to get a private car, and don't count on one being available. I'd plan on going into HCMC and then on to Dalat. about 10 years ago

We were able to cross the border closest to Kampong Cham without any problems. There's a microbus that leaves the city every morning to the border near Krek. The crossing is open to foreigners now. Getting to HCM was the "hardest" part, as we had to change buses twice: at Tay Ninh and at Cu Chi. about 10 years ago
