Looking to travel in Cambodia this coming August for a month. I've heard that the crime in Cambodia has become increasingly worse and I've began to worry. I've been in Thailand for two months this past Feb to April, so I'm used to traveling on my own. Any tips/experiences that could help? I don't want to write off Cambodia completely.

Just don't try camping anywhere near woods or you may become a dinner to dragons. :P
Sure you can go on your own but, try not to go out much in the night. over 3 years ago

It's absolutely fine in Siem Reap and Pnom Phen, but if course hanging out late night alone in some seedy places won't help your fate. over 3 years ago

Thank you. I've always wanted to go to Cambodia but the latest talk isn't sounding very good for Cambodia. Any other tips? over 3 years ago

We stayed at a place called The Siem Reap hostel. Here there was a board where you could sign up with other guests to share tuk tuk trips to the common sights in the area.

They had their own trusted tuk tuk drivers, and would even help you to organise tours.

My point is that if your are feeling a little nervous about travelling alone it may help to know that we met many other solo female travellers in Cambodia. Choosing a good hostel that offers lots of activities and opportunities to meet other travellers will probably help you to feel more secure and play it safe. over 3 years ago

Travelled there many times and its very safe, as long as you use some common sense and dont put yourself in a vulnerable situation, dont roam the streets late at night on your own, pretty much same as anywhere really over 3 years ago

In my oppinion, travelling in Indochina countries is more safety than Europe because I feel that people here are good- natured and friendly. Of course there are many advices to avoid crime rate such as do not going out too late, do not wear jewerry, etc
