I will be flying into Phnom Penh in September and will be staying anywhere from a couple weeks to a month, traveling around Siem Reap and maybe a few other areas. How much does it cost? Will I need the local currency for it or can I use USD?

    Hi Tasia,

A 30 day tourist VISA is 20USD and can be paid in cash on arrival in Phnom Penh airport. You will also need two passport photos. I don't believe they take credit card.

Having just returned, I can highly recommend a trip top Battambang, eat in Jaan Bai and see the Phare Circus.

Smart to bring 2 passport photos, as that is the official need; but when I was there in Jan 2014 they only asked for one.
In the Siem Reap airport there is an ATM which dispenses US cash, but just in case it isn't working, bring your own US $ for the visa. Almost all ATMs in tourist areas (ie Siem Reap and Phnom Penh) will only give US$ to a non-Cambodian bank card, so you should be able to restock easily. Almost all prices will be in US$ and you'll get change in US for everything except the smallest of change.
Smart to bring small denomination bills with you, because machines only gives 20s and 50s, so is a constant battle to get them broken into smaller bills.

I agree with Lisa re Phare circus! Here's why: http://www.pharecambodiancircus.org/blog/grins-all-around/
You can see it in Siem Reap or Battambang. almost 7 years ago
