Hi - I will be traveling next week to Siem Reap to spend 4 days and 3 nights for a holiday to see the sights at Angkor. I am very interested in photography but am mindful that the weather may not be optimal.
Any tips on some off-the-path things I should see? And what I should expect in terms of heat? Any other recommendations on Angkor and Siem Reap most welcome.

The iconic Angkor Wat is, incredibly, not the most impressive of the buildings near Siem Reap. Make sure to check out Ta Prohm; you'll feel like the first adventurer to find a temple in the jungle (great photo opportunity)! over 7 years ago

I'd suggest you hire a driver and get up at 4am have a look around and then get back for a late breakfast. Same in the evenings.

One place to checkout: Beng Melea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beng_Mealea)

It's a bit off the normal route and requires some effort but gives you an idea of what the rest of the ruins might have once been like. Well worth the effort. over 7 years ago
