I am flying into Ho Chi Minh City and plan to go straight to Phnom Penh. Should I book the bus trip and organise my visa in advance or can I just jump on a bus when I arrive in Ho Chi Minh City?

You can buy a visa on arrival in Cambodia (I think its $20 USD). Make sure you have a multi-use visa for Vietnam if you plan on returning back into Vietnam (this happened to me and it wasn't fun trying to organise a vietnam visa in cambodia!) over 10 years ago

There are plenty of buses traveling from HCM to PP.
The journey takes about 6 hours.
    Costs from $10usd
The visas are for sale at the border on arrival to Cambodia for tourist ($20usd) and businessman ($25usd).
You have Vietnam visa before to go to HCM from overseas.
Check if you can return to Vietnam as new visa needed if only one entry.
Easy to get visa from travel agent in PP if needed - 3 days wait.

Definetively arrange it once you are there. Taken down note about The vietnamese visa. I did it in advance and in The local embassy. The cambodian visa i did it when crossing with no inconvenience. over 9 years ago
