I would suggest a minimum of 2 days for Siem Reap so that you can see all of the temples.

Early morning at Angkor Watt is stunning (sunrise) and late afternoon at Bayon is gorgeous - there are a few in between. You can buy a multi day national park pass and its worth it.

Take the time to really wander through them rather than rush to get the main ones done. almost 7 years ago

I also found the best way was a short flight rather than overland on dodgy roads in a coach. almost 7 years ago

I did exactly what you are planning: I took a flight early morning from Bangkok to Angkor Wat. A tour guide was waiting for me at the airport. He drove me through Angkor Wat during the whole day and around 4 pm I left the part to the airport, for coming back to Bangkok. Maybe tiring, but I had only that day and it worked! Enjoy Angkor Wat (go to see the temple with elephants!!!)! almost 7 years ago
