I am planing to go to China, then Myanmar, Nepal &India, but getting to Myanmar & Nepal overland looks impossible. Advice?
We are coming from Indonesia and will be flying out of Java. We are a little tight on time, and money, and weren't planning on doing Thailand at all, but is the only option to fly from BKK to Yangon? If so, is there a way to get from Myanmar to Nepal, and from India to Nepal without flying?
We wanted to end the trip in India and fly back to Ireland. But if it was easier we could go the opposite direction and finish in China, it's just that the flights are more expensive.
I am also not sure about the visa situation. We wanted to start in China so that we could get a visa in Hong Kong. Do you know if you can get visas for Myanmar and Nepal on arrival, or in China or India?
Thank you in advance for your advice, this has really thrown me!
They have recently opened up the border from Thailand to Myanmar, it is simple to go through the border. You can also get from Myanmar to India through border crossing (another traveller was doing this whilst I was there).
If you are British, you do not need a visa for HK. You need to get Myanmar visa before hand. It can take up to 2-3 days, you need a perfect passport picture with a bright white background. You also need your work experience information and where you are going to be staying on arrival etc. I'm not sure where you can get them, but if you see if any of the countries you are visiting before has a Myanmar embassy then you should be fine. They are usually 9-12 (morning) for visa applciations. about 5 years ago
