Copacabana beach is always a place to go if you have never been there before. There are many shows on the beach for free and parties at the hotels. Besides, there is also Clube Marimbás and Forte de Copacabana. On December, there will be more option on parties. You can also go to Buzios (2h30 north of Rio). almost 7 years ago

If you'll try Copacabana beach, be ready to "face the crowd"... Worth it, though! You can actually "rent" a spot in the sand beach (some people rent tents)... :) almost 7 years ago

You can also see the fireworks from "Morro da Urca"- firststage of the Sugar Loaf. They always have nice parties, with bands and an amazing view of Copacabana and Guanabara Bay. It is a bit exepensive but it is worthwhile for the safety, structure, fun and the view. Ilha Grande ( 3 hours south of Rio) is another nice place to go but make sure to book a Pousada ahead because it is usually full during this time of the year, almost 7 years ago

There is a party at the Sugar Loaf mountain and Morro da Urca which is unmissable. Just before midnight you go up the Sugar Loaf to watch the Copacabana fireworks. The view is gobsmacking!!! over 6 years ago
