I am wondering if anyone could suggest what I should see while I travel South to Buenos Aires from Florianópolis.
I can spend about 2 weeks slowly heading down on buses.
There are quite a few things you could see on the way down to Buenos Aires. The most obvious one and an absolute must see is Iguazu falls - probably the most beautiful falls in the world. You can easily get a bus from Florianopolis to Foz do Iguazu. From here you could travel accross to Salta in the North of Argentina and go horse riding or see the salt flats. Then travel down to Cordoba which is a nice town on the way to BA.
Another option you could take would be to follow the coast down into Uruguay from Brazil visiting Punta del Este, Montevideo and Colonia de Sacremento before catching a ferry across the river plate to BA. Either way you will have a grea time :) about 10 years ago

I was born in Porto Alegre... Hard to say, but nothing really special in that region, but... we have some surprises!
If you love nature and is curious about winter, there is a beautiful region in the border of the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, where you may find canions. In the winter, the visibility is really nice if you take a not rare sunny day. You will have a view to the see, 1200m high, 50km far. The canions are impressive. Cities nearby are really small such as Cambara do Sul (RS). There is also Sao Joaquim and Urubici, the coolest cities in Brazil. It snows there!
Commenting the other answer, Iguazu falls is west direction from Florinopolis, not south... it will take longer to get there. A bus drive from Florianopolis to Iguazu will take at least 10 hours, it is a large detour... over 9 years ago
