The flight we are considering arrives in Iguazu at 8 am. Would there be enough time to get to the falls and back if we have a departing flight the same day at 9.30 p.m.? If not, what other activities/sights are there if we stayed the night? Thanks!

Yes, should be. But you will only get to see one side of the falls. Go online and see if you like argentina's or Brazil's options. Also the rides under the falls are awesome and about a 2/3 hour adventure. over 6 years ago

It is more than enough. The entrance to the Iguaçu national parc is only a 20 minute drive from the airport. The visit to the parc itself will take you 2 to 3 hours, so time enough to get back to tha airport on the same day.
If you want to stay the night I recomment you to visit Itaipu hydro electric plant, which is the biggest hydroelectric plant in the world, providing electricity for the entire country of Paraguay and a big part of the southern cities in Brazil over 6 years ago

If you have only that day, then do it! But if you can add at least one more day, do it, it will really worth!! You can visit the falls in the Argentinean side and in the Brazilian side. In the Brazilian side, you will have the panoramic view, and around 3 hours will be enough. But in the Argentinean side, you will be able to experience the falls... There are 5 tours or ways that you can take within the park, which it will take you the whole day, and you will finish very tired! But it is really amazing! If you take the time to get into the falls and pay the cost to get there, then try to do both sides. If you have to chose only one, then go to the Argentinean side. If you have more time, you can go to Itaipu or the Birds Park, in the Brazilian side. Enjoy the falls, one of the new Natural Woders! over 6 years ago

If you're going back to the airport right after visiting the falls, consider the possibility of being completely soaked! It happened to my ex-boss ;-) over 6 years ago
