Hi Steven, it's Katrina from WorldNomads.com here. So sorry to hear your canoe sank with your gear in it. I hope there wasn't anything else with big teeth lurking in the river with you at the time.

We can see you've already submitted your claim. Before you do anything, the claims team will do an assessment on your claim first to see if it's valid. If it is, they will let you know exactly what you do next, including what they'll need from you to prove ownership of these items. This may take a few days, so please be patient while they review your claim and description of what happened.

In the meantime, I suggest you read the full description of coverage carefully for the plan you bought (the policy wording) to see what you're covered for (and not), particularly the section on Baggage & General Exclusions. Please be aware, under the terms and conditions of the plan you purchased, there are specific situations listed where cover is provided for personal items/baggage.

If you have specific questions about your claim, you should contact the insurer's claims team directly - you can do this through your WorldNomads.com membership, by phone or email direct (the number is in the email sent to you after you submitted your claim).
