Hi speed trains are very comfortable in Austria and Germany and I think you can get cheap fares for about 50 euro if you book in advance. The Austrian website is http://www.oebb.at/en/Tickets/Online-Ticket/index.jsp
(Vienna is 'Wien' and Munich is 'Munchen' in German)

You can also look into cheap airlines like ryanair.com or easyjet.com, but for a short distance it's faster and more convienient to take the train rather than go to and from regional airports. You can also check eurolines.com for coaches which might be cheaper, but longer and less comfortable than trains. over 4 years ago

Hi there is also a way to share a car with a traveler going in your direction. you can go to this site
http://www.mitfahrgelegenheit.de/ and find people that are traveling to Munich and share their car expanses. I once traveled to Munich for as low as 30 euro :) over 4 years ago

Check www.westbahn.at - its private train from vienna tomsalzburg and then take bus - about 20 euro 4 hours. Or take plane from about 50 euro at www.airberlin.com or take. Bsu from vienna bus terminal in wien-erdberg over 3 years ago
