    You can get a subway pass for the Vienna system. It's not expensive. However, understand how it works: You just walk onto the subway. No one asks to see your ticket. However, there are anonymous inspectors traveling the subway. They can approach you and demand to see your ticket or pass at any time. If you don't have one, the fines are large: close to $100.00 . Some other European cities work like this. It's apparently cheaper than having the ticket booths manned around the clock. almost 9 years ago
