There is a place on oxford street in bondi junction (near Chilterns). Not sure how authentic it is, but the smells wafting from the door are pretty damn good! over 8 years ago

I haven't gone but by all accounts this is the only one in Sydney worth the effort, particularly if you are used the US west coast mexican:

I have eaten at both Aztecas and the Guzman y Gomez in Newtown and both were really good experiences. There are also strings of your typical tex-mex type restaurants. over 8 years ago

Guzman Y Gomez is the best I've found so far, but its mostly just a burrito/taco shop. It has nice, fresh ingredients and fairly reasonably priced. There is a similar place called Mad Max's that is very much the same and not bad, though I think I prefer g&g.

Aztecas and most of the other mexican restaurants I've visited in Sydney are medicore at best and very overpriced for their offerings. I personally have found that what I can cook at home is far superior to these places and I don't even have all the proper stuff like a mexican restaurant should. over 8 years ago

Guzman Y Gomez is the only good Mexican I've found in Australia thusfar (I found Aztecas terrible). I've just heard there's a new place in Newtown though that's apparently the "best Mexican good in Sydney", I'll find out more details/eat there and report back.

I don't know about "real authentic" Mexican food, my views are just based on spending a few months in California (praise be to Tacos Jalisco). over 8 years ago
