My boy and I want to hole up somewhere cute for the weekend, but it has to be be within public transit distance of Sydney because neither of us drive. Maybe a shack by the beach or a cabin in the mountains..somewhere cute :)

    Hi Pamela,
Consider coming up to Pittwater, buses from Wynyard and Manly. Not sure if camping is your go. But if so, bus to Palm Beach, Ferry to The Basin campsite across Pittwater, beautful spot, beach, water and bush. Or for cabin retreat try Pittwater YHA, bus to Church Point, ferry to the hostel, fantastic bush setting, kayaks etc available, idyllic spot. Plenty of cafes etc around Bayview area also. Totally hassle free weekend. Champagne weekend on a beer budget!

    Hi Pamela,
Or you can catch the train down south stop off at Austimere or one of the other coalcliff villages - there is a pub you can stay at in Thirroul I think as well.

Otherwise the bluemountains - catch the train and get off in blackheath they have lots of lovey b&bs or there is a great pub you can stay at in Mt Victoria....actually I'd do that - lots of warm fires and walking...
