    I did Sydney to Johannesburg direct with Qantas. Best thing about the flight: it travels a great circle route (rather than a straight line) so you go down to about 72 degrees south. Depending on the time of year you go, you should see plenty of icebergs and antarctic sea ice. Spectacular. almost 7 years ago

    I also did the Sydney to Joburg flight - which is quick yet more expensive. The other path i've taken is a Sydney to Joburg via Singapore. The flight was a nightmarish 38 hours with 8 hour layover in Singapore. I would choose the Sydney direct flight, as its around 10 hours...and the icebergs are spectacular. almost 7 years ago

    you could also go across with air mauritius, though they only depart syd. mel or per on selected days each week. have a holiday within a holiday in that sense almost 7 years ago
