What are your favorite restaurants in Surry Hills? There's so many to choose from, so I'm wondering what other people's favorites are? Are there some hidden gems off the main street?

Surry Hills has many of Sydney's great restaurants!

Billy Kwong on Crown St. Home of the celebrity chef Kylie Kwong.

Bills2 on Crown St. Home of the celebrity chef - Bill Granger.

Longrain on Commonwealth St (awarded with one chef's hat). Probably the best Thai restaurant in Sydney.

And at the other end of the price scale:

Erciyes on Cleveland St. Cheap, but great food. They even have live belly-dancing shows on Friday and Saturday nights. over 11 years ago

Crown Street has a lot to offer - start on the corner of Oxford and work your way down the whole length until you get to Cleveland. Jack's suggestions are in the $$-$$$ range. if you're looking for a little more affordable, don't miss Pizza e Birra for noisy Italian with great errr, Pizza and Beer! (unsurprisingly!), Red Lantern Vietnamese and Prasits Thai. over 11 years ago

Just got back from Sydney. Went to a few places in Surrey Hills whilst there.
Red Lantern was fantastic. Been there twice before, never been disappointed.
Pizza e Birra is always good. If you want cheaper pizza try Wood and Stone Wood fired Pizza.
And Erciyes was great. over 11 years ago

I totally agree with J about Bills2 and Longgrain! The eggs at Bills are divine, and their non-breakfast food is good too! Longrain, aside from having fab Thai also has amazing cocktails!! almost 11 years ago

Dont forget about Spice I am! One of the best Thai restaurants in Sydney. Agree that pizza e Birra is great for pizza and Ilbaretto (on bourke) is a great cheap italian and BYO.

If you want something more fine dining then you cant beat Marque (on Crown Street). almost 11 years ago
