How long is the train trip from Sydney to Melbourne? Do you need to book an overnight car?

    The trip takes about 10 hours on the XPT and I think they have some overnight services from memory.

    Having said that, train travel is surprising slow and expensive in Australia, so people usually fly between Sydney and Melbourne (or drive for the fun of a road trip). over 3 years ago
