We use Skype on our IPads to make paid calls to ordinary mobile and home phones. This is a cheap option and we update our account on the internet to keep it in credit. Can we use this same service in England as we will have our own mobile WiFi. Is this a good option, rather than having to buy a phone and SIM card for the UK?

You can certainly opt for this option in the UK. Remember, if you have an Apple device with FaceTime, you can contact anyone around the world who too has an Apple device, whether it'san iphone, iPad or Apple Mac. This is free when you are in wifi range and better quality than Skype. over 4 years ago

I might add I used FaceTime to communicate with folks back home while in Italy. Just sit down with my IPad in a cafe, order a glass of wine, ask for the WIFI password, and voila free conversation (okay I paid for the wine). An added benefit is the cam so you can show everyone where you are, in case they don't believe you ;) over 4 years ago

On top of that, it free. You don't have to pay to use wifi in cafes, restaurants or hotels. Fab! over 4 years ago
