Where can I get the best coffee in the CBD?

For straight up cappuccinos or flat whites I recommend breadd's coffee on Murray Street:
http://www.breadd.com.au/
But it's not a sit-down type place, basically very tiny and you just order and go. If you want to sit down, there's Jackman & McRoss Bakery in Victoria Street. It's stronger coffee in general but is very good, especially if you want anything special.
Stay away from the chains if you can, for some reason the Hobart ones make very bad coffee...? The only exception being Dome in Sandy Bay http://www.domecoffees.com.au/ which is consistently good. Their chai's are great too. But it's definitely got that chain-store-cafe feeling. almost 12 years ago -
For a consistently good (perhaps not the best), I'd hit up Redbean Cafe on the corner of Elizabeth and Macquarie.
Breadd and Jackman & McRoss are both good and are a bit on the stronger side. almost 12 years ago -
Villino Expresso - http://www.villinoespresso.com.au

The best coffee in my opinion is at Oomph on Liverpool St. Most of the staff there have done advanced Barista courses and infact a couple of them finished in the top 3 in the Australian Barista Championships. They actually make and sell their own coffee there and actually supply a few places in town, Breadd and Red Bean being two of them. If you have your own espresso machine at home then I recommend you visit Oomph to purchase some of their coffee, my favourite being "Java Jo". almost 12 years ago
