Hi,
not sure if I can help in anyway other than give the 3 major providers details so you can look into it.
Telstra-Biggest and most expensive & expansive provider in Australia.
Optus- second best in size and performance.
Vodafone most likely to give what you are looking for but most likely the poorest performer.
Something you will POSSIBLY find is like many providers in different countries is that "Prepaid" will not give unlimited data or large data pack.
BE VERY careful to ensure that any plan you have has a data pack.
Also ensure you make sure it's a sim suitable for apple.
As I am not sure of where you will be travelling when arriving in Darwin, I would strongly recommend Telstra (I do hate dealing with them with a passion) however they provide the best coverage Australia wide without question, so ensure you visit a "T" or "Telstra" shop before leaving the city and check it all works before you leave the city as it can be difficult up there as towns are a long way away from each other!
hope I helped

I'm having the same problem but worse.
I'm going to go from Australia to Spain and then elsewhere.
So idk if I can get 1 sim card for both. I know there is vodafone in Spain. Do you know if i'd be able to buy a sim card in Australia and then use it in spain? over 6 years agoAnswered by Samantha viaWorldNomads.com

If you buy a 2dgrees or Vodafone New Zealand simcard they will work in Australia.
Refer to http://www.newzealandsimcard.com/mobileproviders.htm. However you will be on roaming while in Australia. The sims will need to be activated in NZ if you are visiting Australia first. The cheapest way to do it, is to buy an Australian SIM and a NZ SIM.
NZ sim start from $15.00 so not a big expense over 6 years agoAnswered by Elsbeth viaWorldNomads.com

Truphone is what I use for life between Australia, UK and US. Same SIM works in all 3 countries as local calls. Truphone uses Optus as network partner in Australia so coverage is decent. Uses T-Mobile in US. Travel without SIM swapping. Data also and SIM adapts to regular mobile or iPad. Pay as you use. Been using it for last 4 years. over 6 years ago

Hi,
I decided to buy a 3 GB Ipad SIM from Telstra. It works well in 3G and also in LTE in major cities (so far Darwin and Alice Springs).
It costs 30 AUD and expires after 30 days. over 6 years agoAnswered by Carlos Oliveira viaAsk a Nomad iPad app
