We're thinking of staying in Kings Cross during a w/e stay in Sydney. What's transport like to/from the CBD after 11pm and during the day?
The place we're thinking of staying at is Macleay Lodge, 71 Macleay Street, Kings Cross.
Would take about 10 mins to walk from there to Kings Cross station, once there Martin Place station in Sydney CBD is only one stop (a few minutes) away from Kings Cross station. Trains leave every 10 mins during the day and every 15 mins or less after 11 (check http://www.131500.com.au/ for exact times).
The downside of all this is that while you are staying in what is actually Potts Point (a really nice suburb generally), you have to walk through Kings Cross - one of the dodgier parts of Sydney.

You can walk from Kings Cross to the CBD in 15 minutes - just head straight down William St. No need for a train unless you're carrying anything or its raining.
After 11pm on a weekend traffic on Williams St can crawl to a stop, as it's very busy with clubbers going out and people trying to get home.
At night, just walk along main roads that are lit and have people - common sense really. You're much safer on the Kings Cross strip at night than down a side-street!
Hope you have fun! over 9 years ago
