Can anyone recommend some good youth hostels in Sydney? I need good price, 24 hours, close to CBD or public transport. Looking for something similar to the Green Tortoise in San Francisco if you've been there.

The biggest hostel in Sydney cbd would be the YHA next to central station.Should have everything you need. However price may not be to your liking. Around $38 a night if a member or $42 if not for a room sharing with 4 others. There are plenty of hostels scattered all around the city bondi and glebe are popular and still close enough to the city. almost 12 years ago

I've stayed at the Sydney YHA. It's decent and pretty cheap, definitely central to things, if a little dull. I don't know the Green Tortoise, so I can't comment on whether it's similar. over 11 years ago

I agree.. Sydney Central YHA is brilliant and is the only 5 star rated hostel in Australlia! http://www.yha.com.au/hostels/details.cfm?hostelid=29 over 11 years ago
