I am planning a years working trip to Australia at some point over the course of 2013 and I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations as to where to start off with regards to which city to choose when looking for work? Also any information about how much money to take and places to stay would be much appreciated.
WorldNomads.com has a stack of stuff on working holidays, perhaps start with this one:
Best of luck, you'll have a great time here.

Hi Steve! I think it depends on what type of atmosphere you're looking for. If the social scene and culture is super important at first you may opt for Melbourne or Sydney because they are larger. I chose a smaller town on the coast (Ballina) when I traveled there. Although I found a job there, two of my friends did not. I would say take no less than $1,200 if you're going alone and not on a program. If you're considering assisted travel, check out my company's AUS program: http://www.smallerearth.com/work-and-travel/flexible-work-visa/work-and-travel---australia-210/ It's super basic but gives you a job database to use the entire time you're in AUS. Would love to help with anything else if I can. almost 6 years ago
