Can I rent a car in Tasmania if I am holding a provisional driver licence?
I checked many car rental web and information guide book, most mentioned require 25+ years old or additional charge will apply. I read a guide book mentioned not all car renting company require holding the driver licence for 1 year.

Tasmanian car hire companies are the same as anywhere else in Australia . You will be able to hire a car , but it will be very expensive as the insurance for a provisional licence will be HIGH ! You might try some of the cheap local hire companies , such as Rent a Wreck . They are not as bad as they sound . Any way, you only need the car for one day . Get off the plane in the morning , do a lap of the island , and get back on the plane in the afternoon . And dont forget that Tasmania has a winter that lasts 11 and a half months . Happy travels . about 7 years ago
