While I've never hired a campervan, we see a lot of Britz vans on our travels

Avoid wicked, as I've heard they don't maintain their vans well. I used Apollo for a cross country drive from Perth to Sydney and it was a fine van. about 5 years ago

Just remember, Australia is very large, and 1 week will not get you very far about 5 years ago

if you're looking for something large you're probably limited to the likes of Apollo, Britz or Maui. they're all much of a muchness offering the same sorts of well maintained and well appointed RVs at higher end prices. if you're looking for some thing smaller and you're on a budget check out the Toyota Hiace Hitops. there are heaps of them on the tourist circuit and we love ours, which has everything you need for 2 people. We rented one from Travellers Autobarn and they offer a good no-fuss nationwide service. happy to give them a thumbs up. have fun and make sure you include the Great Ocean Road if you're starting off from Melbourne. :) about 5 years ago
