Not my thing - if you're into crowds and parties (children not advised) then Oxford Street/Darlinghurst is the place to be. I'd recommend dressing outrageously to get into the party spirit. almost 9 years ago

Get an eski full of drinks, some fold up seats, and camp on the footpath along oxford st. Get there early (4 or 5 at the latest) to get a seat. Before Taylor Square is a good spot - as you can see them coming up the hill. If you don't camp out to watch it then I would just watch it on TV - there's almost no chance of getting close once the crowds line the street!

(Legally you aren't allowed to drink on the street - but people do and as long as you aren't obnoxious about it you'll get away with it)

Don't expect to get any taxis so be prepared to walk home (or to a train station!). almost 9 years ago

Go to the street Parade, it's brilliant. It heads past Hyde Park and that's a great place to stand. It goes on all afternoon and then all the bars and pubs are packed. It's a great day. And of course head down the bars and clubs, Oxford is a great place to be for that, and you will have a mean time! almost 9 years ago
