We are booked to stay in Verandah Apartments and I would like to know how bad it is there.

Northbridge isn't a terrible place to be. It's really close to the heart of the city and nightlife. It does have a reputation of being pretty rough, mainly because it's where most of the clubs and pubs are. On the weekends is where it will be the most busiest and noisiest. If you don't like drunk roudy club goers then maybe Northbridge isn't for you. But it is close to a lot of restaurants and nice bars and caves and close to retail shops. almost 6 years ago

Thanks. So, during the day it is OK? I really don't have much say about the booking, unfortunately. :( almost 6 years ago

During the day it's absolutely fine. At night, do as you would in any city in the world - keep alert and don't wander around alone. If you go out to have a good time, you will. If you're not really into the pub/club scene and would prefer a bar, I highly recommend Ezra Pound, Bird or Frisk. almost 6 years ago

Northbridge isn't that bad. When I go to Perth, I always go out to Northbridge, there are lots of nice restaurants, particularly towards the freeway end of James St. There is a reputation and in the past it has been pretty rough, but with higher Police presence now they seem to keep the rowdy drunkards at bay. And although there are lots of nightclubs in the area, there are also some good bars that dont attract the idiots who like to cause trouble.
There are also so arty things to do in the city, nothing like Melbourne, but head up james street and there is a museum and library, performing arts studios and the like. Dont just stay in your appoartment, get out and enjoy the city! :) almost 6 years ago

Wow, Melinda! Thanks for the insight. I guess i would just have to use my common sense, especially at night. Now, I am no longer that worried. I have my 2 teens with me, hence the concern. almost 6 years ago

It's actually changing into a lovely arts precinct. James st has the night life but you also have good food, state theatre and arts destinations. I've stayed there and liked it. CBD tends to be very dull after hours. Not much goes on as there aren't many residents at this point. almost 6 years ago
