Hmmm - that's a good question but we'll need more information about what it is you're intending to do... and your budget. The last time I was in Melbourne I stayed at the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens and it was great. Central, great service and reasonably priced. If you like asian food I still have dreams about Gingerboy... over 6 years ago

I think the best place to stay is at the Yarra Valley which is just less than an hour outside Melbourne. It's one of Australia's famous wine regions and has a wide variety affordable accommodations you can choose from, from B&Bs to cottages or apartments for rent. They also have rooms for rent if you're on a budget. Definitely have to stay in any of the Art Series hotels... the Blackman on st kilda road is a fabulous location in that it is central to both the city and st kilda. or the Olsen in South yarra. The hotels are all based on famous australian artists and they just have the most excellent of service and vibe. They capture everything you want to get out of the cultured city that Melbourne is. http://www.artserieshotels.com.au/ about 6 years ago
