My boyfriend and I would really like to visit the Whitsundays whilst in Australia. We are currently trying to work out which island(s) to visit? Can anyone help?
We were interested in spending a day and night on a boat but really do not want to share it with 30 18-21 years olds, however unfortunately we do not have the bank balance to pay for own private boat! So we were wondering whether we stayed in a hotel/hostel and did a day snorkelling trip? and whether this would be cheaper?
We would also really like to visit the 'heart' reef -does anyone know about options to do this? and should we dive in the Whitsundays if we can save the money??
And finally, we have to visit in mid April due to return flight back to the UK, is this going to be an okay time to visit the Whitsundays.
Apologies for all the questions and thank you so much in advance
Usually you can get a boat for a day trip out to the Whitsun days. These usually depart from Airly Beach and are very reasonably priced. years ago we did a day trip o. The Apollo (don't know if it still operates) out to a very famous beach called Whitehaven Beach - which, even in the land of great beaches is beyond stunning.
Hope this helps a little about 8 years ago
Hello I personally don't think one day do justice to the beauty the Whitsunday archipelago has to offer but if you can only do that then....better than nothing! Check this out www.prosail.com.au I had a very good time with them. about 8 years ago
April will be fine, it's beautiful weather here, not too hot but very little rain. Hamilton island is beautiful and you can hop on a boat to the reef easily. If your not wanting to spend your time around stacks of backpackers a good choice is to go with either Fantasea or Cruise Whitsundays on a day trip. In relation to Airlie beach, the two best places for a couple would be Deja Vu restaurant at Waters Edge resort, and Alains. Be warned if you go to Alains be prepared to not leave until around midnight, because its a long dinner but well worth it about 8 years ago
