If you want to experience the less touristy and more local destination then try Brunswick St, Fitzroy. Tram 112 from city or short walk. Great bohemian feel. Cafes and restaurants. There's a good mix including a popular vegetarian place or two. Good or shops and general good vibe. Lentil as Anything at the Collingwood convent is a classic veg place worth the experience. Also st kinda has some good spots but gets touristy. over 6 years ago

Grill'd...at least three vegetarian burger choices (my favorite: Garden Goodness)

Schnitz...any sandwich can be made with a veggie patty

Mekong...Vietnamese (use chicken broth in their Pho)

heaps of options down by South Bank and in St Kilda along with Brunswick Street (friends love Veggie Hut and Veggie Bar)

As a vegetarian who lived in Melbourne just under a year; I had little trouble finding food options. Most places (including food courts) had a few options available and were very accommodating.

    Happy eating.
