    Fly. Qantas has a service.
If you decide to drive yourself, be aware it's a 6 hour journey not a trip to the local shops!
Ask the locals about what to take, and be careful of kangaroos if driving at night. over 6 years ago

Hi Shelley - Phil's right. It's a 500km journey (welcome to the huge space in the middle of Oz called The Outback!). It's 6 hours driving/bus or a short flight. The Alice Springs airport is very close to the town - maybe 10 minutes drive - and easy to get to. over 6 years ago

Totally agree with this. We really enjoyed the drive so we got a chance to experience the changing outback, but it's a super long stretch of road. There are some unique spots to stop and see on the way though, which can be worth it, but if you're on a tight schedule then flights are the way to go. Like Phil said, do your driving at day time if you choose to drive as there's lots of wildlife (most hire car companies don't allow you to drive in the outback after dark anyways). over 6 years ago
