Generally "South East" Asia refers to the mainland countries of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), Vietnam and peninsular Malaysia. It also includes the maritime countries of the Malay Archipelago: Brunei, East Timor, East Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Although geographically Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are part of South East Asia, they are not generally included due to political ties.
Eastern Asia comprises of the People's Republic of China, Taiwan (Republic of China), Hong Kong, Macau, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), Republic of Korea (South Korea), Japan, and Mongolia. over 9 years ago
