Have already thought Asia as its beautiful, hot and cheap but flights are expensive. India would be an obvious but i can't be trusted to return back to university.....

Hey Abby welcome to Travellr! Great first question :)

My sister is in Thailand right about now, but it currently a bit rainy to be considered a "sun spot". But if you had better luck over Christmas it would be an awesome place to hang out.

In terms of budget friendly places, in asia you just have to stay away from heavily visited tourist areas and you should be able to limit expenses severely. over 9 years ago

Thailand would be a good choice if you can get the right priced flight as once you are there, it is very cheap to live.

Closer to London - Tenerife has warm days with sun over the winter months, Turkey would be probably too cold and wet, Cyprus should be okay and the Middle East would be warm and not raining.

Egypt (Sharm or similar), Jordan or the UAE would fit your bill, but it would depend on flight prices I guess. Also, they are no longer that cheap to stay - your biggest expense would be your hotel.

Goa, India and Africa - again all countries that might be a bit pricey to get to but you can stay there very cheaply and they - well certainly Goa and India - are really geared up for backpacker tourists.

If you are able to fly at odd times then you might be able to get a bargain. I was checking out prices from the Middle East to Japan and if I was prepared to fly out on Christmas Day and back on New Years Day it almost halved the cost of the flight!!!! over 9 years ago
