I am traveling alone overseas for the first time as a mid-20's male. I have been debating whether or not I should utilize a hop-on hop-off tour company like Stray for the first of several legs of my trip just so that I could get my feet wet and accustomed to the area before venturing off on my own for the rest of my several month trip. Am I crazy for paying for their services even with transport and local and western guides included or should I be ok on my own? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, should I get the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine before I go? It's very expensive!
I recommend the hop on hop off tours everywhere as they are quite flexible. As far as the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine have you checked with your local health dept or a travel medicine doctor or physicians assistant in your area? I did and saved quite a bit on my vaccines and medicine for a trip to Asia. about 4 years ago
