I too am heading to Argentina with my veggie boyfriend so have researched this recently.

Check out happycow.net. It's a great directory for vegetarian and vegetarian friendly restaurants all over the world. I also got this tip for a place in Cachi is Ashpamanta. It’s real artisan cooking, specialising in pastas:

Also, many places in Argentina have pasta on the menu and further toward the mountains and country, trout will be on a lot of menus. almost 11 years ago

I can only echo what the previous reply said. You will need to do your research before you go ideally for each of the different cities you plan on visiting. If you are only visting the major tourist areas (BsAs, Mendoza, Bariloche, Ushuaia and Iguazu) you should be fine, however if you are going to one of the smaller towns you will need to ask around (expect some strange looks) for instance in San Juan (where I live) there is only 1 specific vegitarian resturant. Other than that I hope you like Pasta. One word of warning, you may find that anything fried (i.e. fries) are fried in beef tallow and not vegitable oil, so it may be worth asking before ordering.

Enjoy Argentina. over 8 years ago
